You mentioned false memories in the article. I just finished reading Lynn Crook’s “False Memories: The Deception that Silenced Millions.” It’s a history of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation. She’s been tracking the FMSF for 30 years. They are wicked people. Excellent read.
I am from dell rapids, and I was named as a satanist when I was in eighth grade, due to a witch hunt by a police officer named randy Engel and our rampant child molester priest, father Kenneth Koster. BS, of course, I was a fucking kid. Randy Engel left town in the early 90s and the woman who bought his house was friends with my mom, and he had left Dell Rapids in a hurry and so they found a torture room and satanic symbology and stains of blood in what had been his basement.
Last night my mom, who has the gift of getting truly incredible gossip and information from people, informed me that she has recently met and spoken with two women, who are the daughters of a man who used to own a grocery store in town, that they were ritualistically sexually abused in the old opera house building downtown Dell Rapids. She also first hand witnessed several of the male business owners in town discussing doing violence on members of other races (of which there were none in our small town- but that sort of violence often will express in other ways).
I cannot believe that these two women are the only victims. There has been a darkness seeping through that town for generations. We had multiple ACTIVE (very active, many victims) sex offenders operating during the 70s, 80s, 90's- and quite frankly there are still 13 registered so living in a town of 3500.
I have been curious about others findings in other small towns that got wrapped up in the "satanic panic" and it seems that the "satanic panic" messaging allowed us throw the baby out with the bathwater, and ignore the fact that two things could be true 1) there was a witch hunt in the 80s that sought to take down teens for listening to metal music and 2) satanic ritual is real and it has been going on for decades and yes, even during the satanic panic - they were just looking in the wrong direction. In our town, it was our police officer who was projecting his own demons onto us and he single handedly created the entire panic in dell rapids. I was there, I was involved. And there is not enough room here and it's not the place for me to fully get into this- it's a lot.
